Authorities respond to small fire at Scottsbluff home

The Scottsbluff Fire Department responded to the 1700th block of Avenue I in Scottsbluff Friday evening for a third-party report of a structure fire.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff Fire Department responded to the 1700th block of Avenue I in Scottsbluff Friday evening for a third-party report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, black smoke could be seen from the front door of the house, but firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the kitchen.

According to Scottsbluff firefighter Mike Levick, the homeowner prevented the fire from spreading by using his own fire extinguisher before fire crews arrived.

Mutual aid was called from the Gering Fire Department and Scottsbluff Police Department.

Firefighter Ministry assisted the family.
