Police arrest two teenagers in fatal shooting in Cheyenne
CHEYENNE - Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in the area of the Frontier Mall in Cheyenne on Monday evening.
The Cheyenne Police Department says four individuals were traveling in a vehicle on Dell Range Boulevard when the shooting occurred at approximately 6 p.m. According to the investigation, Tirso Munguia, 19, of Cheyenne, and Cody Nicholson, 18, of Cheyenne, were handling a firearm in the backseat, while two females were seated in the front.
Mungia reportedly fired the gun, striking a 17-year-old female in the front passenger seat. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the vehicle pulled over at 1400 Dell Range Boulevard and Nicholson fled on foot with the firearm. The driver proceeded to the Frontier Mall parking lot and called 9-1-1.
Tips from community members assisted authorities to find and place Nicholson into custody without incident. He was found to have an outstanding Laramie County warrant for a probation violation on an original charge of Driving Under the Influence. Nicholson was booked into the Laramie County Jail on the warrant and a charge of accessory after the fact to manslaughter.
Munguia was booked into the Laramie County Jail on a charge of manslaughter without incident.
The case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
