Sidney -- The City of Sidney received two Engineering Qualifications Bids for a waste water project with a substantial difference in costs.

The bids are for replacement of equipment in the Influent Pump Station. The selected engineering firm would be responsible for value engineering, creating design plans, estimated replacement costs and submitting the final replacement plans and specs to the City, according to the proposal presented to the Sidney City Council Tuesday by Waste Water Treatment Facility Superintendent Todd Sukup.

MC Schaff of Scottsbluff submitted a bid of $18,610 and Olsson and Associates submitted a bid of $180,346. Funding for the project will come from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

The council approved awarding the project to MC Schaff.

Sukup said in his presentation the influent pumps are the original units installed in 1987.
