Bridgeport girls, boys advance to SPVA Tournament Championship game

The 12-0 Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs face the 8-4 Chase County Lady Longhorns in the semi-finals of the SPVA Basketball Tournament.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The 12-0 Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs face the 8-4 Chase County Lady Longhorns in the semi-finals of the SPVA Basketball Tournament.

In the first round of the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs, being the one seed, had the bye. The Lady Longhorns faced Perkins County in the first round where they got the 61-43 win.

When the teams went into the locker room at the half, Bridgeport had the 40-13 lead over Chase County.

The Lady Bulldogs would hang on to that lead the rest of the game and go on to defeat the Lady Longhorns by a final score of 66-23.

Chase County will face Saint Pat’s in the third-place game on Saturday, January 21st at 4:30 at NPCC.

Bridgeport will face Hershey in the Championship Game on Saturday, January 21st at 7:30 at NPCC.

Bridgeport edges out Perkins County in the semi-finals

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The 8-4 Bridgeport Bulldogs face the 8-5 Perkins County Plainsmen in the Semi-finals of the SPVA Basketball Tournament.

Perkins County came into the tournament as the three seed and faced Kimball in the first round where they got the 50-47 win. Bridgeport was the two seed coming into the tournament and faced Sutherland in the first round where they got the 65-24 win.

When the teams went into the locker room at the half, Bridgeport had the 25-16 win over Perkins County.

Bridgeport goes on to win over Perkins County by a final score of 51-50.

Perkins County will face Chase County in the third-place game on Saturday, January 21st at 3:00 at NPCC.

Bridgeport will face Saint Pat’s in the Championship Game on Saturday, January 21st at 6:00 at NPCC.

Kimball defeats Sutherland in the consolation game

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The 0-9 Sutherland Sailors face the 3-9 Kimball Longhorns in the 7th place game of the SPVA Tournament.

The Sailors came into the tournament as the 7th seed and saw Bridgeport in the first round where they lost 65-24. Kimball came into the tournament as the 6th seed and faced Perkins County in the first round where they lost 50-47.

When the teams went into the locker room at the half, Kimball had the 41-24 lead.

The Longhorns would hold on to the lead for the rest of the game to claim the win. Kimball will face Hershey in the fifth-place game Saturday, January 21st at 12:00 at NPCC. The Sailors take 7th place in the SPVA Basketball Tournament.
