Sutherland sweeps Creek Valley Tuesday

CHAPPELL - The Sutherland girls and boys basketball teams swept Creek Valley on Tuesday night in Chappell. 

Senior Cydnie Wilson helped the Sailors get a 60-26 victory over the Storm by having a game-high of 15 points. Sophomore Story Rasby added 13 of her own and junior Montana Saylor chipped in nine points.  

Creek Valley was led by sophomore Ava Fraass who had eight points, while freshman Jeryn Snell added five.  

The Storm fall to 1-10 and will be at home this Friday to play Garden County (6-7). 

The Sailors advance to a 2-11 record and will host the Kimball Longhorns (1-13) on Thursday. 

Over in the boys game, senior Harmon Johnsen had 23 points to help Sutherland get a 50-35 victory of Creek Valley. Johnsen made 7-10 free throws throughout the game.  

Freshman JT Lantis chipped in 14 points, and the Sailors shot 13-21 from the free-throw line.  

The Storm had only three players in the scorebook. Senior Hunter Martinez and junior Seth Wilber combined for 34 of the 35 points scored for Creek Valley.  

Wilber led the way with 19, while Martinez added 15.  

Sutherland gets their first win of the season and advance to 1-10 and will host Kimball (4-10) this Thursday. 

Creek Valley falls to 2-9 and will play Garden County (10-3) at home on Friday.
