SCOTTSBLUFF - The Bridgeport girls basketball team jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back in a 75-40 victory over Gordon-Rushville in the 2023 Western Trails Conference Championship game Saturday at Cougar Palace on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. They led 26-6 after the first quarter. 

Senior Ruthie Looms-Goltl, who signed to play college hoops at the University of Colorado, helped the Bulldogs claim their third-straight conference title with a game-high 22 points.

Her sister, Olivia Loomis-Goltl, finished with 17 points, Brooklyn Mohrman added 12, and Ella Schluterbusch chipped in 10.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Haley Johnson with 11.

It was Bridgeport's second conference tournament championship in three weeks. The Bulldogs won the South Platte Valley Association Tournament at the end of the January.

Jace Nelson scored a game-high 28 points and the Gordon-Rushville boys basketball team won the WTC title with a 63-39 win over Kimball Saturday at WNCC's Cougar Palace.

Carter Anderson added 11 points. The Mustangs began the game on a 12-0 run and led 16-5 after the opening period.  

Kyler Lusche led the Longhorns with 11 points. Sixth-seed Kimball advanced to the championship game with victories over Bayard on Thursday and Bridgeport in the semifinals on Friday.
