Ned LeDoux to play Cheyenne County Fair 30 years after his father, Chris, performed in Sidney
SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Fair Board announced Thursday Ned LeDoux will be the entertainment for the 2023 Cheyenne County Fair and Rodeo.
Son of Chris LeDoux, American country music singer-songwriter, bronze sculptor, and hall of fame rodeo champion, Ned LeDoux will be on stage on Friday, July 28, 30 years to the date after his father played the fair.
According to a Sidney Telegraph photo from the July 29, 1993 edition, Chris opened the entertainment portion of the fair performing two shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. with a combination of traditional country and country rock music on Wednesday, July 28, 1993.
Ned LeDoux says county fairs were the way of life growing up in Kaycee, Wyo. and the family atmosphere is what stands out to him at fairs and rodeos.
"You're out there playing a show and little kids are out in front of the stage, playing in the dirt with cotton candy all over their face," LeDoux said. "I think that's the neatest part about it. Being from Wyoming, I took the fair serious. We were in 4-H."
The 2023 Fair is scheduled for July 22 through July 29. Evening activities start Saturday, July 22 with the NBHA Barrel Race. Family Fun Night follows on Sunday evening. The PRCA Rodeo and Barrel Race is Tuesday, July 24.
The Cheyenne County Fair and Rodeo will host a Military, Veteran and First Responders Appreciation Day on Wednesday.
Carnival entertainment returns to the Fair this year. Rides will be set up Thursday, July 27, through Saturday, July 29. Thursday evening, the Truck and Tractor Pull will rattle the rafters. Finishing the week, the newly named "Rumble on the Rails" Demolition Derby on Saturday, July 29.
The Fair Board is also introducing a Beer Garden to the 2023 Fair. This year's Beer Garden is a vendor option. Those interested in hosting will soon be able to find the applications online at the Cheyenne County Fair website, www.cheyennecountyfair.com.
