Colorado State Patrol completes rollout of body-worn cameras
DENVER, Colo. -- The Colorado State Patrol has added Axon Body Worn Cameras to a trooper's equipment.
The Colorado State Patrol began implementation of the BWCs in August 2022. The CSP had to the already placed in-car camera systems. BWCs have been added to all 725 active troopers in Colorado.
Due to the size of the agency, the body-camera rollout was conducted in phases with a targeted completion date of February 2023.
"The body-worn camera has been a good addition to the Colorado State Patrol operations," said Sgt. Troy Kessler, CSP Public Information Officer. "Troopers have found the evidence collected via the body-worn camera is a valuable source to be used in investigations."
The Colorado State Senate requires all law enforcement to implement BWCs by July 2023.
