SIDNEY – For the third time in head coach Tyler Shaw’s tenure, and third time in the last six years, the Sidney Lady Raiders won their 21st game of the season Saturday afternoon. The Lady Raiders improved to 21-1 on the season as the Sidney basketball teams completed a sweep of weekend games at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. The Lady Raiders methodically pulled away from Holdrege for a 50-27 win while the Red Raiders picked up their 17th victory by taking down the Dusters 56-43.

Reese Riddle scored five of her game-high 14 points in the first quarter, including one of a trio of Sidney three-pointers, to propel the Lady Raiders to a 13-6 lead in the first frame. Sidney’s pressure defense once again set the tone, holding the Dusters to just three field goals in the first half, as Sidney built their lead to 22-11 at halftime.

The Lady Raiders used a 28-16 second half to pull away and secure the win. Sidney made eight threes on the afternoon as ten Sidney players scored led by Riddles 14 points. Karsyn Leeling made three from outside the arc to finish with nine points.

Freshman Alek Doty scored all five of his points in the first quarter on Saturday, as eight Sidney players scored in the first frame help the Red Raiders bolt to a 20-11 advantage at the end on one period. Micah Schneiders second and third three-pointer of the half, allowed Sidney to extend their lead to 33-23 at intermission.

Sidney’s defense held the Dusters’ leading scorer, Jackson Hinrichs (19.6 ppg.), to just three points in the second half as the Red Raiders maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the night. Sidney had nine players score on the night led by the 13 points of junior Isak Doty. Sophomore Landon Riddle added 11 points while senior Micah Schneider chipped in nine points.

Sidney continues their homestand next week as both teams will entertain Alliance at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. The Lady Raiders host the Lady Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday while the Red Raiders will take on Alliance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
