SCOTTSBLUFF - The Scottsbluff girls basketball team is under new direction a week ahead of the Nebraska high school postseason.

Dave Bollish stepped down as the head coach Tuesday morning, according to a press release from Scottsbluff Public Schools. No reason for the resignation was released. It's effective immediately.

Mike Burda, who was an assistant under Bollish, was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Bearcats are 17-5 this season and begin Class B-8 Subdistrict play on Monday. Subdistrict seedings and pairings will be released Friday.

Bollish, who also served as the social studies teacher in the Scottsbluff school district, was hired as the girls basketball coach in 2016.
