Mead limits Leyton to four players in scorebook, advances to second-straight state tournament
Junior Frankie Hebenstreit finished with 15 points and the Mead boys basketball team qualified for back-to-back state tournaments with a 44-33 victory over Leyton on Tuesday at Lexington High School.

LEXINGTON - Junior Frankie Hebenstreit finished with 15 points and the Mead boys basketball team qualified for back-to-back state tournaments with a 44-33 victory over Leyton on Tuesday at Lexington High School.
Seniors Beau LaCroix and Luke Carritt each added 8 points to help the Raiders advance to the school's 26th appearance at the Nebraska School Activities Association Boys State Championships.
Mead (18-8) is the No. 8 seed and will play No. 1 North Platte St. Pat's (23-2) in the first round of the Class D1 tournament on Wednesday.
Senior Dillon Juelfs led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points. Leyton was held to only eight points in the first half. They finish the season at 21-4.
