Scotts Bluff County to purchase new vehicles for public transit system

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scotts Bluff County Commissioners gave approval to the transit department to purchase new vehicles on Monday.

During its Monday meeting, the Scotts Bluff County Commissioners took action on allowing the transit department to use Federal Trade Act funds to purchase new vehicles that will be used to replace old vehicles. The transit department will be purchasing a new Ford Transit Van equipped with a wheelchair lift and a Chrysler Voyager lowered floor minivan. Once the purchase is complete, the transit department will have a total of nine vehicles and the older vehicles will be put in a reserve or emergency role.

The total purchase will cost $121,500 with the funds coming from the Federal Trade Act and the Nebraska Public Transportation Act. The transit department will be asking for a match of $13,000.

During its meeting, the county also approved the sale of county land to the City of Scottsbluff for $20,000 and to the Village of Lyman for $750.
