NWS: Early spring snow storm could drop 8-10 inches in Nebraska Panhandle through Monday

SIDNEY - A winter weather advisory was issued for Cheyenne, Kimball, Banner, Scotts Bluff, Sioux, Dawes, Box Butte, Morrill, Garden, and Deuel Counties in the Nebraska Panhandle at 3:41 a.m. Saturday.
The advisory, which also includes northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming, is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday. According to the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne, three to seven inches of snow is possible, but narrow heavy snow and could lead to isolated pockets of 8 to 10 inches.
A 36-hour snowfall projection from the WeatherEye Weather Center calls for over nine inches of snow in Sidney, over eight inches in Dalton, and around six inches in Potter. Kimball could receive four-and-a-half inches, over eight-and-a-half in Sterling, and Peetz could have over seven inches.
The weather services says the heaviest snow is expected Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night. Five inches of snow could fall around Scottsbluff, Bridgeport and Ogallala. Nearly six inches of snow could be possible in Julesburg, while Haxtun and Holyoke could get over nine inches.
Whatever the amounts may end up being, the latest unsettled weather pattern guarantees the Sonny's Super Snow Mountain will last into at least early next week.
The NWS expects hazardous travel conditions due to icy, snow covered roads and reduced visibilities in falling and blowing snow. They say to slow down and use caution while traveling.
