Commuters in Logan County, Colo. report treacherous conditions on Interstate 76

PANHANDLE -- Snow continues to fall in the Northeast Colorado, Nebraska Panhandle area. At this time, no roads are closed with the exception of Highway 52 between Fort Morgan and Colorado Highway 14.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Sterling area through 6 p.m. tonight.

The National Weather Service reports Sterling is currently experiencing snow that "could be heavy at times." Highs are expected to be near 33, breezy with gusts to 21 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation could reach five to nine inches.

The NWS says there is a 40 percent chance of snow continuing before 7 p.m., then a gradual clearing and a low around 10 with winds gusting as high as 20 mph.

Cheyenne County started the morning with snow and spotty visibility. The official report from the NWS is for highs around 30 with a chance of snow accumulation of two to four inches. Chances of snow continue until midnight.

Conditions improve Tuesday with temperatures expected to reach the low 40s.

 WeatherEye Weather Center Meteorologist Paul Trambley said today about four inches of snow fell in Sedgwick, Colo., Saturday, and about 6 1/2 inches north of Lodgepole and nine inches in Chappell. 
Trambley said today's storm is not expected to leave more than two to four inches of snow.
