Steve was born in Little Falls, MN on July 11, 1951, as the oldest of five children.    While living in Minnesota, Steve met Susan Franzen and the two were married on July 1, 1972.  Steve and Sue were blessed with their first child Chad in 1974. Soon after they moved to Colorado. In 1975 they were blessed with another child, Tanya.

While in Colorado Steve worked as a truck driver, construction worker, master welder, and to say the least, Steve was a “jack of all trades”. Steve was a beloved husband, father of 2, and grandfather of 4. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

In January of 2020, Steve and Sue moved from Colorado to Sidney, NE where they would finish out their retirement and call Sidney their home.  Steve enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, hunting, fishing, shooting and riding his motorcycle. Steve was a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge.  He also loved to cook and was the King of the smoker and the grill. He was known to have a conversation with people wherever he went and made many friends. He and Sue would spend much of their retirement traveling together either on the motorcycle or in their camper.

Steve was always busy at work even after retiring.  If he wasn’t outdoors, he was busy building or fixing something, or in his garage tinkering around and organizing his tools while creating some of his greatest projects.  He pretty much lived in his garage and slept in the house.

Steve is survived by his wife of 51 years Susan Saulter, son and daughter-in-law Chad and Stephanie Saulter, son-in-law Nicholas Schaps, grand-children Michael Schaps, Matthew Schaps, James Perez, and Ashton Osisnski, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Ardel Saulter, his loving daughter Tanya Schaps, and his niece Misty Saulter.

He is loved and missed by many.
