SIDNEY -- The Sidney City Council Tuesday agreed to a relationship with KCTS Transportation Service.

The agreement with the Kimball County bus service would allow the bus service to park their vehicles in Sidney overnight, and transport Cheyenne County residents to Kimball County in the morning. The agreement would allow KCTS to park vans at the Sidney facility at 1433 Illinois St. The agreement also allows for parking by KCTS customers at 812 13th Avenue, the former UST Global building.

Sidney Transportation Superintendent Kasey Kantor said the City of Sidney Transportation and the City of Sidney is contracting with KCTS.

"We want to partner with them," Kantor said.

The partnership would also assist Clean Harbor employees who live in Sidney and surrounding areas by offering transportation from Sidney to Kimball. Additionally, KCTS has drivers who live in the Sidney area.

Director Christy Warner said the intent is to benefit both agencies. She said there are employees working in Kimball who need to be at their job site by 5:45 a.m., so the van has to leave Sidney by 5 a.m.

She said the program has a total of 26 units, 13 in service and 13 on order. Warner said from July 31, 2022 to 4 p.m. April 25, KCTS vehicles have been driven 500,000 miles.

"That is literally how many miles we've driven, in our service area," she said.

The Sidney City Council approved the agreement 5-0.
