SIDNEY -- Hometown Liquor in Sidney recently announced a donation to PlainsWest CASA as a result of the store's  RoundUp program.

In April, Hometown Liquor received 1,444 contributions for a total of $712 for PlainsWest CASA and Child Abuse Awareness Month. Hometown Liquor matched the first $500 for a total of $1,212.

The donation is based on donations by customers, then Hometown Liquor matched the first $500. Hometown Liquor's Roundup program is a charity program aimed at local children's organizations.

Hometown Liquor General Manager Natalie Lucero said the  April focus was in support of PlainsWest CASA and happened to occur in Child Abuse Awareness Month. Hometown Liquor has chosen Sidney Cool Kids Club as the recipient for the May donation. The Cool Kids Club vision is for children to have a safe and productive place to learn and grow when school is not in session.

"The first month, having it be CASA, and Child Abuse Awareness Month, so it was just a great first cause, and the second one, Cool Kids Club, they are just in the need of money for different summer activities. The less-fortunate children: sometimes their parents can't afford to send them to the movies, so this is the kind of thing that will help out with that."
