SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -- Thunderstorms popped up across Nebraska Thursday, with things getting underway in the Panhandle by the afternoon.

Reports of hail in Scottsbluff and surrounding areas kickstarted the round of storms, with rain, hail and lightning moving across the state throughout the night.

Additional scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop near a stationary front extending from the central panhandle into central Nebraska this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Some of the storms may become severe, bringing large hail and damaging winds. NWS advises monitoring the weather and having a plan of action if severe weather hits your area.
