Mark Allen Slama was born to Raymond and Ruth (Sellers) Slama on May 31, 1955. He was the youngest of four children. Mark was the first baby born in the new Sidney Hospital.
Mark graduated from Potter High School with the Class of 1973. During his high school days, Mark worked with his dad farming and working with S & K Haying Company.
In his early adult life, Mark had a very interesting work history. He moved to Ft. Collins, CO with Gary Weiser where they started a landscape company. After two very successful years, Mark and Gary were hired to be Wood Tech’s working on electrical line wood poles from coast to coast. While in Minnesota he became a huge Minnesota Twins baseball fan. His love for the Green Bay Packers came from watching Sunday football with dad and his Packer sportswear collection is proof of how much he loved his Packers. Mark and Gary gave the pole career up and both moved back to Potter, where Mark has called home ever since. Mark went to work in Sidney at Krone, a wire manufacturing company. He was one of a 4-man crew-Jeff Kasten, Derek Biesecker and Brian Thies who carpooled to work every day. They could all tell stories that would have you laughing for hours.
Another story about Mark is that every Christmas for years, he was ‘Santa” for all his nephews and nieces. He loved his family.
Mark is preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Ruth.
He is survived by his brother Mike (wife Marlene) Slama and brother Jim, both of Potter, NE, sister LuAnne Isaacs (husband, Carl) of Rapid City, SD, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his most beloved dog, GB.
A Celebration of Life--yes, Mark is gone but he left us with a million memories.
