SIDNEY -- Meira Moon Collective recently opened its doors in downtown Sidney.

"We're a natural light photography creative space," said McKailie Conger.

Conger partnered with Jenn Relerford to open the location at 926 10th Ave., Sidney. She said she and Relerford had been looking for a location to open their photography businesses. Few fit their desires, until they combined resources.

"We found spaces, but they were never exactly what we were looking for. Just by chance this building was for sale and someone took a chance on us," she said.

Their vision is for the location to be more than a studio.

"Our primary goal with it is to be a photography studio for Jenn's business, and my own and secondary we want to be able to share it with other creatives, other photographers and offer just a small event space," she said.

She chose to open the studio in Sidney because of her history, and also because of the support the community offers. She said she started her business on the East Coast, then moved back to Cheyenne County.

"I started my business on the East Coast. It started really slow, and then when I moved home it grew really quickly. People want you to succeed here," she said.

Relerford is from the Potter community. The draw to Sidney is a need to be where the people are.

"This (location) kind of fell into our lap after a year of searching," she said.

Conger and Relerford have a history they describe as "since I can remember, best friends." They are both each other's competition, and compliment each other. Relerford does videography as well as still photography.
