Robert Arnold Beyer is one of eight children of Willis Fred and Sylvia Mae (Bayne) Beyer, born March 1, 1940 in Sidney, NE. He attended country school through elementary and graduated from Dalton High School in 1958. After high school, he followed the harvest and helped with the family farm before enlisting in the Navy. While in the Navy, he was aboard the USS Kitty Hawk as a petty officer third class before his honorable discharge in 1965, when he came back home to the family farm. He met Patricia Elaine Hoppes and they were joined in marriage on August 24, 1968. To this union, four children were born. Bob spent most of his life farming and running a dairy. Bob was very proud of his family and his home and always wanted to show off his piece of “God’s country.”
After leaving the farm in Dalton and a brief stay at the VA Home in Scottsbluff in 2020, Bob and Pat relocated to Sidney, NE. Bob got to know all of his new neighbors by baking and offering his “famous” oatmeal raisin cookies to everyone he met. He never knew a stranger.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his wife.
He is survived by his four children: Willis and wife Gail Beyer of Bridgeport, NE, Amanda and husband John Jenson of Dalton, NE, Christopher and wife Jodi Beyer of Columbus, NE, and Serena and husband Damon Ballance of Cheyenne, WY; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor Ernest of Dalton, NE and Rita (Skeeter) Rains of Aurora, CO.
