Phillips unveils 'Popkorn Express'
SIDNEY -- High wind and the promise of rain didn't stop the celebration as Kim and John Phillips unveiled their custom concession trailer.
The trailer, the "Popkorn Express," is a mobile food and entertainment venue.
"This has been a dream of Kim and I for a while," said John Phillips. "We used a Coke trailer out of Scottsbluff. Then the management changed. I looked at Kim and said 'why don't we build our own?'"
He said he talked with staff and Adams Industries about building a concession trailer. After researching previous trailers built by Adams Industries, and what the Phillips wanted in a trailer, work started.
The end result is a trailer capable of food service, and video and audio reproduction.
"There's not much on this trailer we didn't touch," said Brian Booe of Adams Industries.
Phillips delivered a bare trailer, and Booe returned a concession trailer detailed in a "Cars" theme, painted red, and promoting one of Phillips' favorite references: John 3:16.
"We're going to have a lot of uses for this. We're going to go to a lot of functions," John said. "Through the church, we're going to run our truckers ministry. We're excited about all the options."
During Friday's ribbon cutting, the Phillips offered samples of popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels and a new line of cane sugar-sweetened colas, and coffee and donuts.
