Sidney man faces arson charges in garage fire Saturday night
SIDNEY -- A Sidney man appeared in Cheyenne County Court Tuesday to face a charge of Second Degree Arson.
According to the arrest affidavit, Sidney Police officers were dispatched to 852 Olsen Drive at 8:36 p.m. Saturday in reference to a garage fire. Upon arrival, officers observed flames coming from the roof and black smoke rolling from the sides of the garage. Sidney Volunteer Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene. As the fire scene came under control, a state fire marshal was called to investigate the scene.
The homeowner reported seeing a male walking from the garage wearing black pants, a black hoodie and a cap. The homeowner reported then seeing flames and smoke coming from the garage. Officers later learned the suspect to be Conner Patrick, 21, of Sidney. He was located in the 1900 block of 10th Avenue drinking an alcoholic beverage, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the garage fire was started in a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse parked in the garage. State Fire Marshal Ryan Sylvester confirmed the fire was intentionally started. The garage and contents are a total loss estimated at $60,000.
He was later taken into custody at 852 Olsen Drive. Conner Patrick was transported to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office where he was booked on the charge of Arson Second Degree.
