Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by National Weather Service until 2:45 p.m. for Cheyenne County 

SIDNEY -- A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been upgraded to a Tornado Warning has been issued for the Nebraska Panhandle, southeast Wyoming and northeast Colorado. 

Sidney is experiencing heavy rain, wind and hail.

"It is looking active. We'll likely have a couple of rounds of severe weather. This first here this afternoon. That thunderstorm warning for Cheyenne County already in effect. That storm is just to the northeast of Sidney and moving to the northeast at a rather slow pace," said Weather Eye Weather Center meteorologist Ray Miller.

Miller said the storm is producing quarter-size hail and winds up to 60 mph. Miller expects the storm to strengthen as it moves northeast.

South central Cheyenne County in the Panhandle of Nebraska... * Until 200 PM MDT. * At 124 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Sidney Airport, or near Sidney, moving southwest at 15 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and hail up to two inches in diameter. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * This dangerous storm will be near... Lorenzo around 140 PM MDT.
