OGALLALA -- Ogallala police officers were contacted in regards to multiple suspicious packages residents in the City of Ogallala received early last week. 

Officers investigated a package that was brought to the Ogallala Police Department, while conducting the investigation Officers discovered that the box is used by Apple to allow individuals to send in their devices. 

Officers made contact with Apple Company in regards to the situation and Apple advised that occasionally this will occur for Fraud. The information the Ogallala Police Department received was provided to the Global Security Investigations for Apple. 

Officers spoke with the Fraud investigator in the Global Security Investigations from Apple and it was explained that individuals will initiate the trade in process and provide the address of innocent residents and the individuals who are attempting to defraud Apple will remain around the residences to attempt to intercept the packages in order to attempt fraud with Apple. 

The package was opened and there is nothing harmful within the packages. Apple advised to just have individuals dispose of the boxes.
