Eagles founding member and Scottsbluff native Randy Meisner died Thursday at the age of 77.
The announcement was made on the Eagles' Facebook page.
Meisner was one of the four founding members of the band along with Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Bernie Leadon.
He contributed to the first five albums the band released including "Desperado" and "Hotel California."
Meisner was also the lead singer on the band's first million-selling single, "Take it to the Limit."
He left the band in 1978 but rejoined them on stage in 1998 when they were inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.
Meisner grew up in Scottsbluff and was born into a family of farmers.
He attended Scottsbluff High School where one of his teachers told him he should learn to play bass.
