Livestreaming will not be available for August 8 meeting

SIDNEY -- The Sidney City Council is moving the August 8 city council meeting to the Sidney High School Performing Arts Auditorium.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

City Manager David Scott said Monday, August 7, the move is due to an anticipated crowd attending a scheduled public hearing Tuesday.

"We anticipate some larger crowds so we want to try to accommodate everybody's input as much as we can. The school was kind enough to let us use that venue. We will not be able to put it on our YouTube channel since our equipment is stationary in the city office," Scott said recently.

The public hearing regards the proposed sale of the building at 812 Illinois St. The sale would include cash and trade of the building currently possessed by Worldwide Trophy Adventure (WTA) on Pole Creek Crossing.  Scott said WTA officials contacted the City soon after UST Global announced it would not continue with the Illinois Street building.

The building at 812 Illinois St. still has a TIF agreement attached to it, according to Scott.

Since there is debt owed by Bass Pro on the building, the City has the choice of leasing it to a tax-paying entity, or selling it, he said.

"WTA approached us right away when UST moved out. The council and them had conversations, and we think we've come to a plus-plus for everybody," Scott said.

The meeting will also include a presentation by Sidney E3. The purpose of E3 is to "develop a network of resources in Sidney and Cheyenne County to drive opportunity through sustained investments in entrepreneurship and community improvement," according to the group's presentation.
