Daniel K. Boles

A celebration of life for longtime Sidney resident Dan Boles will take place at the Living Memorial Gardens, Sunday, September 17th at 3 pm.
Family and friends will gather after at Tres Margaritas for storytelling and a toast to Dan’s life.
Daniel Keith Boles was born June 14, 1952, to Bates and Helen Boles in Hobbs, New Mexico. He graduated from Roswell High School and earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from New Mexico State University. Dan and his family moved to Sidney in 1992, to lead Business and Industry training programs at WNCC. One of Dan’s contributions to the community was helping bring Sidney’s Way Out West community theater to life. He built dozens of sets, directed and acted in many seasons of shows. His passion for education and helping create community led him to a career in corrections education for over 25 years.
Dan passed away on March 25th, 2020 in Los Lunas, NM and was buried in Artesia, NM.
Due to covid-19 restrictions at the time of his death, services were limited to a small private ceremony. To celebrate his big life, and his boundless spirit of adventure, his family has created a series of memorials across locations meaningful to Dan’s life and hosts gatherings when able. This celebration at Sidney’s Living Memorial Gardens is to mark his time spent in Sidney.
Dan is survived by his son, Jacoby Boles of Texas, Jacoby’s mother, Janell Wicht, His wife, June Boles, stepdaughters, Jennifer, Sandra and their spouses, grandkids and great-grandkids in New Mexico and California; His sister, Linda Edens and her family in Texas and Alaska, his many friends and students.
