SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners approved the 2023-2024 county budget.

The County is asking for a total of $6,263,500 in property tax revenue. The ask supports the County's General Fund at almost $6.2 million and the Cheyenne County Fair at $68,500. 

The County lowered the mil levy for the coming fiscal year from .422733 for 2022-2023 to .4075 for 2023-2024, a 4 percent drop in the mil levy. At the same time, the valuation increased by 6 percent, according to the budget summary. 

The budget includes an Economic Development fund showing proposed disbursements of $3.2 million. The Economic Development fund is a pass-through grant awarded to the county on behalf of Adams Industries.  

$1.5 million has been allocated to the American Rescue Plan fund.  Currently, the courthouse HVAC system is the only project allocated to the ARPA funds.
