COWLES, Neb. — Did you feel the ground rumble on Monday south of Hastings?

The United States Geological Survey says a small magnitude earthquake happened around 9:30 Monday morning in eastern Webster County. It was about six miles east of Cowles.

There haven't been any damage reports associated with the quake. As of Tuesday afternoon, eight people have responded to the USGS to report if they felt it or not. Officials encourage people who were in the area to fill out their online survey.

Southern Nebraska, which is not a common place for seismic activity, experienced a couple of small earthquakes last summer.
