Events start with Oktoberfest Market, Craft Fair

SIDNEY -- Sidney's Oktoberfest starts 10 a.m. Friday at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.

This year's event starts in the pavilion with fresh produce, home-based businesses and more. At the same time, there will be a craft fair.

The Oktoberfest opening ceremony is scheduled for 12 p.m. in the big tent.  A variety of entertainment will take the stage throughout the day. The beer garden will be open in addition to a variety of ethnic foods.

The Husker game will be broadcast at 6 p.m. and the night closes with The Shon Townsend Band in the Oktoberfest tent.

Saturday starts with the SRMC O'Fest Run. The run starts at the Cheyenne County Community Center and ends at the fairgrounds. 

The Oktoberfest parade (The route starts at 19th and Illinois and ends at 7th and Illinois.), four-person golf scramble, market and craft fair start at 10 a.m. Saturday will be filled with free entertainment. The Cruisin' Class Car Show "Show & Shine" will be at Legion Park 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Horseshoe doubles is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the horseshoe pits at Legion Park. 

"8-Track Flashback" will be on stage in the Oktoberfest tent starting at 8 p.m. 

The craft fair continues Sunday morning at 10 a.m. A church service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the Oktoberfest tent. The annual Weiner Dog Races are scheduled for 1 p.m. in the pavilion.
