Council approves purchase of two pickups, roll-off truck

SIDNEY – The Sidney City Council approved the purchase of two pickup trucks and a six-yard roll off truck.
The Water Department and Sewer Department budgeted for the purchase of a new pickup. The Sewer Department’s purchase will replace a 1992 Chevrolet K1500 pickup with more than 300,000 miles. The new pickup was budgeted in the 2023-2024 budget for $50,000. The City is purchasing a 2024 Chevrolet ½ ton pickup from Panhandle Auto Sales at a price of $45,222.40, $4,777.60 under budget.
The pickup for the Water Department was identified as a capital equipment purchase within the 2023-2024 budget. It will replace a 1996 Chevrolet K1500 pickup with 271,000 miles on it.
The six-yard roll off truck, for the Landfill, was bid at $116,000 from Elliott Equipment. Solid Waste Superintendent Dean Sterling said he requested an updated quote prior to the October 10 council meeting and remained at $116,000.
