BRIDGEPORT - The C1-12 volleyball sub-district opened play Monday at Bridgeport High School. The Chadron Cardinals secured a spot in tonight’s final by beating the Sidney Lady Raiders in the first semifinal match. The Cardinals advanced 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, and 25-13. Demi Ferguson paced Chadron with 12 kills. Karsyn Leeling led the Lady raiders with 9 kills, while Chloe Ahrens and Carli Black each added 7 kills. Sidney ends their season at 18-15.

Gordon-Rushville had a challenging path to the championship game. They started the night with a five-set thriller against Mitchell, eventually winning 27-25, 18-25, 25-13, 22-25, and 15-11. The Mustangs then faced the Bridgeport Bulldogs and showed incredible resilience by overcoming four match-points to secure a victory 26-24, 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, and 16-14. Emma Martins led the way with 10 kills for the Mustangs, with Rowan Simonson and McKinley Grover adding 9 kills each. The Bridgeport Bulldogs, despite a strong performance by Brooklyn Mohrman with 18 kills and Grace Dean contributing 13 kills, finish their season at 16-13.

Chadron def. Gordon/Rushville, 25-18, 25-19, 25-10, Tuesday evening at Bridgeport High School to advance to a Class C-1 District Final for the state tournament.
