City of Gering approves one-year and six-year road plans

The City of Gering heard from the streets department at the City Council meeting on Monday and approved a one and six-year road improvement plan.

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The City of Gering heard from the streets department at the City Council meeting on Monday and approved a one and six-year road improvement plan.

The one-year plan will feature two projects and the six-year plan will feature nine projects.

The one-year plan will have work done on 17th Street beginning at 955 17th St. and ending at D Street. The work on 17th Street will be a relaying of asphalt and installation of 4 ADA Handicap Ramps. The other project for the one-year plan will be a relaying of asphalt on Crescent Drive.

The six-year plan has two large projects, one taking place on M Street from 11th Street east to city limits and on 10th Street from the Union Pacific Railroad tracks north to Stable Club Road. The work done on M Street will be a relaying of asphalt, the Installation of 19 ADA Handicap Ramps and new pavement marking. The work done on 10th Street will be a relaying of asphalt, and the installation of new curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

The one-year projects will cost a total of $349,100 and will be completed by Spring of 2024. The six-year plans will cost a total of $6,903,300. The streets department can be contacted at 308-436-6835 with questions.
