BRIDGEPORT - Like Aubrey Watts is heavily involved in school and community organizations, the junior setter was heavily involved in Bridgeport's offense on the volleyball court.
Aubrey is an outstanding student athlete as she is involved in Art Club, National Honor Society, First Presbyterian Youth Group, and Club Volleyball. She is a three sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball, and track and is a great teammate and leader.
During the last game of the regular season Aubrey collected 20 set assists to break the school record for most set assists in a career. Aubrey collected 626 set assists in her junior season making her career total 1362 and now holds the record at Bridgeport for most set assists in a career as a junior.
Bridgeport Volleyball Coach Stephanie Schmidt says Watts leads through her endless effort to get the ball.
"She has no quit attitude and is a fierce competitor," Schmidt said. "It has been an honor to coach her and to see her grow in this sport. It is such a great accomplishment to surpass that school record. She still has one season to go to add to that number and to see her name on the wall will be such a great reminder of the competitor that she is.".
The old record was set back in 2010-2013 by Sydney Faessler who eclipsed 1296 in her career.
During the 2023 volleyball season Aubrey finished with a total of 626 set assists, 272 digs, 45 kills, 13 blocks and 12 ace serves. On her career she has a total of 1362 set assists, 594 digs, 137 kills, 55 ace serves, and 25 blocks.
Aubrey has a record of 50-41 as a Bulldog, and Bridgeport finished the 2023 season 16-13 in class C1.
