Suspect, with child inside home, in standoff with Alliance authorities
ALLIANCE - Authorities were engaged in a standoff with a female suspect at a mobile home park in south Alliance Thursday night.
The Alliance Police Department says the incident began when a woman was accused of pulling a gun on officers while they conducted a welfare check at approximately 6 p.m. The woman remained in the home, with a child inside the residence, until she surrendered at approximately 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Authorities asked residents in Alliance to shelter in place at approximately 6:37 p.m. Thursday due to what they called an "active threat." In the CodeRed message to residents, the Alliance Police said the incident was not an active shooter situation, but there was an active threat.
The Nebraska State Patrol, Box Butte County Sheriff's Office, Scotts Bluff Sheriff's Office, Garden County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska Game and Parks and the Alliance Fire Department also responded to the scene.
