SIDNEY - A Sidney woman was drawn as the grand prize winner of a $1,000 Shopping Spree after a month-long registration process with radio stations 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country.

Kim Larsen was one of ten finalists drawn at Wireless World, Kendall Esthetics, Beans & Steams Coffeehouse, Sapp Bro's Travel Center, Nexgen Outfitters, Dick's Flooring, Charlotte & Emerson Boutique, Sutton Home Gallery, Highby Outdoors and Boss City Brewing.

Larsen was announced as the winner live on 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country on Wednesday afternoon.

"No way," Larsen reacted when she was announced as the winner on 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country. "This is not funny. Wow! That's amazing. You have no idea how bad I needed that. Thank you."

Larsen says she signed up to win at Boss City Brewing and Highby Outdoors. Listeners had until Dec. 12 to register their name, phone number and hometown for the annual contest.

Larsen used Thursday and Friday to plan her shopping trip for Saturday. Her and her sister, Nicole Brauer, were chauffeured to the participating businesses by Panhandle Auto Group to spend $1,000 of The Big Boy's money.

"I was completely shocked," Larsen said. "I didn't know what to say, because I had already talked to my kids. Being a first year teacher, Christmas wasn't going to happen this year. Of course, they were old enough and they were like, 'Okay, no big deal, mom.' Are you kidding me? This can't be real. It just can't be. I was grading spelling papers in my classroom when you called. I just couldn't believe it. I walked out of my classroom and I was like, 'I guess I won. He said I won.'"

Larsen spent her winnings on Saturday at Beans & Steams Coffeehouse, NexGen Outfitters, Highby Outdoors, Sutton Home Gallery, Charlotte & Emerson Boutique and Boss Brewing Company
