Major decisions to be made in two separate Kimball meetings Tuesday afternoon

The Kimball City/County Park and Recreation Executive Board and the Kimball City Council will meet in back to back public meetings on Tuesday, December 19th.
At 4:00 pm the Kimball City/County Park and Recreation Executive Board will meet at the Kimball County Transit Center. The meeting will center on a broken well located at the golf course, which is jointly owned by the city and county. The well originally quit working this summer, and other wells have been used as a work around, but the Parks and Recreation Operating Board believes that they cannot go through a full summer like that and has recommended to the executive board the well be replace.
In the interest of due diligence, the executive board will hear options on repairs to the well compared to replacement. If replacement is approved it will cost roughly $182,500. The board will use this same meeting to discuss options in financing the project.
At 5:00 pm the City Council will move to their chambers in city hall for a special meeting. In the special council meeting, they are expected to approve the pending recommendation of the Planning Commission to rezone two pieces of side by side city owned property across from the Kimball County Manor. The zones will go from R-1 Single Family to R-3 Multi family if approved.
The rezoning comes as the city plans to sell the properties to Clean Harbors. Clean Harbors is expected to build an apartment complex for employees of their Kimball plant on the property. The complex will include four buildings, and if all goes a s planned, construction will be underway by February.
