Lodgepole Community's first food drive brings warms table for families

LODGEPOLE -- The village of Lodgepole saw a need and took action.

Representatives from VISIONS delivered Christmas cheer to some residents of Lodgepole and Sunol with food baskets, hams, and cookies.

VISIONS held a food drive during Christmas In The Village community event on December 3.  The food drive was supported with food and monetary donations. People were asked to donate non-perishable food items or a monetary donation during the December 3 Christmas In The Village celebration. Baskets were assembled on December 4 at the VISIONS meeting and recipients were selected at that time.

This is the first food drive by the community. The hope is for the food drive to be an annual event.

Organizers thank all who contributed food and monetary gifts to fill the baskets. Gift baskets varied, according to Rita Bartling of Lodgepole. Some recipients received small baskets, some large baskets, some only a ham, some cookies, and some a ham and cookies.

"The response from those who donated and those that received was overwhelming!" Bartling said.

The baskets were delivered on December 15 by Bartling and Terry Christensen.
