SIDNEY — The City of Sidney announced today it has been awarded $435,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the Downtown Revitalization category.

This substantial allocation of funds marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to breathe new life into our historic downtown corridor.

The CDBG funds represent a substantial investment in the revitalization of the downtown area. These funds will be instrumental in causing changes that will enhance the appeal, vibrancy, and historical significance of Sidney's downtown corridor.

Key initiatives supported by the funds include facade enhancements, historical preservation and bringing buildings up to code. The awarded funds will support much-needed enhancements to commercial facades, preserving the historical charm while revitalizing the appearance of storefronts. This effort will create a more welcoming and attractive environment for businesses and visitors alike.

All projects must be located within the project area which extends from Hickory Street to King Street from 13th Avenue to 8th Avenue.

The impact of these funds extends beyond the physical improvements. This investment represents a renewed commitment to our community's well-being and economic vitality. The revitalization of our downtown will stimulate economic growth, attract new businesses, and provide a renewed sense of community pride.

As the City moves forward with the implementation of these revitalization initiatives, residents are encouraged to actively participate in the process. Together, we can ensure that these funds are utilized effectively to create a downtown that we can all be proud of, the City's press release says.

The Downtown Revitalization Fund Program Guidelines and application will be available this month on the City of Sidney’s website. The program will be administered through the Historic Preservation Board.
