SIDNEY -- The 2024 election will be locally somewhat quiet compared to recent years.

Cheyenne County has one office open. County Commissioner District 1, occupied by Randy Miller, is open this year. Cheyenne County Clerk Beth Fiegenschuh said Miller has filed to keep his commissioner seat. 

Sidney voters will have two seats to consider: Burke Radcliffe and Brock Buckner, Sr.

The Sidney Airport Authority Board has two seats open; seats held by Dennis DeNovellis and Jason Petik.

Four school boards each have three candidates seeking office on the 2024 ballot. The Leyton District No. 3 School Board seats are presently held by Rol Rushman, Suzy Ernest and Dave Wiedeman.

The Potter-Dix District No. 9 School Board also has three seats open, the positions held by Tim Maas, Trustin Vrtatko, and Royce McConnell.

The positions currently held by Kathy Nienhueser, Kevin Challburg and Brad Kennedy on the Sidney School District No. 1 School Board are open, as are the seats held by Matt Klingman, Troy Isenbart and the seats held by Stephanie Owen on the Creek Valley School District School Board.
