Marjorie M. Jones, age 96, died at her home near Lodgepole on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell, NE with Pastor Neil Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery at Lodgepole, NE. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-6:00 P.M. to leave condolences for the family.

Marjorie Margaret (Kastens) Jones, the daughter of Dick and Edna (Moyer) Kastens was born on April 10, 1927 in a blizzard at their farm home north of Lodgepole. She was baptized, confirmed and married at the Zion Lutheran church in Chappell where she was a life-long member. Marjorie attended Goodview Community School and Lodgepole High School graduating in 1944. After high school she was employed at Sioux Ordinance Depot in Sidney and three years later she moved with friends to Denver with employment at the Colorado Highway Dept, Elitch Gardens and the Denver Post. It was there she met her husband, Frank Jones, and they were united in marriage on November 14, 1948. The following spring, they moved from Denver to their farm home north of Lodgepole to help her father with the grain and livestock farming. To this union, 5 children were born.
They enjoyed living on the farm, close to family and were involved in church, school and sport activities as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Marjorie was a 35-year volunteer with the Girl Scouts, retiring as the neighborhood chairman and district council representative. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible school for many years and was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Bible classes at Zion Lutheran church in Chappell, NE. She enjoyed gardening and yard work, cooking, sewing, entertaining, traveling, photography and Community College classes. Marjorie was a 25-year member of Cheyenne County Art Guild. She enjoyed taking workshops and an art trip to Europe with other local artists. Her family cherishes her paintings she has shared with them.
Marjorie was a devoted mother, grandmother of thirteen and great grandmother of twenty-two. She cherished time with her family, especially enjoying holiday and birthday celebrations. She had a strong faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, devotion to her church family and a strong sense of patriotism.
Surviving family members are Frank C. Jones II and wife Marsha of Greeley, CO, April Misegadis and husband Doyle, Mark Jones and wife Marcy, Ben Jones and wife Lisa, Holly Jones and Bobby Reynolds of Oceanside, CA, thirteen grandchildren: Frank C. Jones III and wife Dana, Tony Jones and wife Tiffany, Misty Michelman and husband Kelly, Catie Bondegard and husband Bret, Joshua Misegadis and wife Shanna, Bricelyn Jones and Bret Doucette of Evergreen CO, Aubriel Zachman and husband Bryce of Johnstown CO; Rachel Lauderbach and husband Brian of Raymond, NE, Lesley Jones and Jesse Palacio of Kyle TX, Mitchell Jones and wife Brianna, Brooklyn Curry and husband Brian of Walla Walla, WA, Gracie and Brooklyn. Twenty-two great grandchildren, one brother, Dale and wife Jeanine Kastens of Pearland, TX and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband Frank Jones, her parents, sister Evelyn Real, a great granddaughter and great grandson.
