A North Platte man accused of shooting a 12-year-old boy and leading police on a high speed chase last month waived his preliminary hearing in Lincoln County Court on Thursday.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A North Platte man accused of shooting a 12-year-old boy and leading police on a high speed chase last month waived his preliminary hearing in Lincoln County Court on Thursday.
Brandon Girkin, 38, appeared before Judge Joel Jay. Girkin faces nine charges, including second-degree assault, child abuse, and attempted first-degree assault on a healthcare professional or peace officer.
Girken is currently being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond at 10 percent. His attorney, Amanda Speichert, made a request to have his bond reduced by half. However, Judge Jay denied the request.
Girkin’s case is now headed to district court. A court date has not been set.
