Robinson is being held on a $100,000 bond

SIDNEY - A Sidney man wanted in connection for an assault last week was captured in southern Colorado in the vehicle he's accused of stealing from the vulnerable adult he abused.

Sidney Police Chief Joe Aikens says Nathan Robinson, 23, of Sidney, was placed in custody at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night and was being held in the Fremont County jail in Canon City. He was arrested by Canon City Police on a Nebraska warrant. He is scheduled for an advisement hearing on the warrant.

Canon City authorities were notified by Nebraska law enforcement of Robinson possibly in the Fremont County area. Timothy Bell, Public Information Officer for the Canon City Police Department, said they were notified a short time after the call by a convenience store clerk reporting the vehicle and occupants being suspicious in the area, resulting in police officers contacting Robinson.

Robinson was with an adult male passenger when arrested. The passenger was not charged with a crime and released at the scene.

He was arrested and transported to Fremont County Detention Center where he is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Sidney police obtained an arrest warrant on Jan. 18 for Robinson after he was accused of assaulting an 84-year-old woman at Western Heritage Apartments and stealing her red 2012 Chevrolet Cruze sedan. It was determined Robinson knew the female resident and had been allowed into her apartment.

The victim of the assault was treated and released from Sidney Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. A family member of the victim told News Channel Nebraska this week she's home with family and "doing well considering what she's been through."
