WESTERN NEBRASKA -- The Public Alliance for Community Energy wants communities to show their pride of projects completed with the support of ACE funds.

The army constructed Camp Lookout in 1867 to protect railroad builders.

It was Sidney’s first building, and its bricks were carved from the hills behind it. Volunteers devoted their efforts to preserve this landmark, but the observation deck and front porch ceiling had become deteriorated and unsafe with time. The ACE revenue return was used to repair the observation deck so visitors can safely experience the famous lookout and catch a glimpse of history for themselves.

Since 1998, ACE’s revenue return program has helped our municipalities with awesome projects like park improvements, fixing community buildings, providing tools to help in emergencies...and so much more!
We asked ACE's members to nominate projects they did with the help of the revenue return program. Winning communities will be awarded a plaque, $200 towards future community betterment projects and bragging rights.

The ACE revenue return program helped Chappell make Thompson Park safer and more accessible. The old rubber ground cover had become a tripping hazard and was replaced. The park also received new amenities such as benches, trash cans and sidewalk around the perimeter that meets ADA standards. Looks like there will be plenty of fun to be had for many seasons to come.

Through the program, the ACE board of directors may vote to return revenue to its member communities. The board approved the distribution at its January board meeting. Since forming in 1998, ACE has returned nearly $4 million to its Nebraska member communities. The funds are used in various ways to benefit each ACE member community, including helping fund community recreational projects, community swimming pools and park improvements.

ACE was formed more than 25 years ago by Nebraska communities to provide competition in the Nebraska Choice Gas program while retaining local control. It also provides advocacy for Choice Gas customers and strives to keep revenue in Nebraska's ACE membership communities.
