Train collision with vehicle injuring 16-year-old near Sutherland

Sunday afternoon, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle colliding with a train at O’Fallons Crossing a mile east of Sutherland.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Sunday afternoon, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle colliding with a train at O’Fallons Crossing a mile east of Sutherland.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer, an eastbound train stopped on the tracks caused a 16-year-old driver to not see a westbound train. Two vehicles in front of the 16-year-old crossed the tracks safely, however, the teenager did not check for the westbound train.

The injured teen was transported to Great Plains Health in North Platte and was diagnosed with a concussion but no other injuries. The vehicle the teen was driving sustained extensive damage. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has reported there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being used in the case.
