SIDNEY -- On April 10, the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce will host an event titled "Leverage Tourism for Your Business."

Cheyenne County Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell says the workshop will address how to use tourism to improve business.

"We're really just going to cover all the ways that a business can take advantage of the opportunities that tourism offers," she said.

Some of the topics to be highlighted are county tourism opportunities, state tourism opportunities, tourism organizations events and social media. For example, Cheyenne County has a tourism page, visitsidneyne.com, where a business can be listed as a tourism destination. There is also a state tourism website where a business can get listed.

"We'll show you how to claim your listing, how to manage your listing, and how to get your events listed on these different pages, as well as talk about different tourism organizations that you can join to get even more exposure to that market, and we'll talk about Google and your website's social media, making sure that it has the information that visitors are looking for and its easily findable so that you'll get more foot traffic," she said.

She said it is also important to have up-to-date and accurate information when promoting business on social media platforms.

The workshop is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 10 at the Cheyenne County Visitors Center, 658 Glover Road, Sidney. The workshop is free to all Cheyenne County and surrounding area businesses.
