SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners approved two Visitors Committee projects in the March 18 meeting.

Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell and Visitors Committee chairman Brooke DeNovellis presented the projects to the commissioners. The first project was a $2,000 Improvement Grant for improvements of the Dalton Senior Citizens Center. The Senior Center is used for community events, such as the Dalton Fall Festival, as well as for senior citizen activities. The Committee also recommended a $4,500 Event Incentive grant to the City of Sidney. The grant is to help with costs of Downtown Sounds this summer. DeNovellis and Mitchell said the City of Sidney is partnering with 987 The Big Boy to promote the summer concert series.

Commissioner Randy Miller asked about the Visitors Committee awarding funding to the City. County Attorney Paul Schaub said he contacted the State Auditor. Schaub said the auditor has no issue with it.
