KIMBALL -- The Kimball Hospital Foundation is bringing Las Vegas fun to Kimball at its sixth annual Casino Night Fundraiser May 4 at the Sage Brush.

Casino Night will feature 13 casino-quality gaming tables, professional dealers and a pit boss provided by Casino Party USA in Denver, according to Kerry Ferguson, director of the foundation.

Guests must be 21 or over to attend. Admission is free; however, a donation is suggested. When guests first arrive, they can donate $50 or more if they’d like, then they will receive a card worth $200 in casino chips. They will then take that card to one of the casino dealers in exchange for their chips. Guests will also want to turn in their admission tickets for an entry into the cash-prize drawing at the end of the night.

Games offered this year include blackjack, roulette, craps, Texas hold-em poker, a giant classic “Operation” game and new video slot machines.

Ferguson said traditional Las Vegas rules and odds will be used at each table, and the dealers will explain the rules for those who don’t know how to play.

Guests can also pay $20 for a mug to keep and get free refills of adult beverages for the night.

Proceeds from Casino Night will go toward purchasing new anesthesia equipment, as well as a few technical pieces for the OBGYN and ENT (ears, nose and throat) surgeons.

The doctors are also contributing to the cause by sponsoring the event.

“Jason Beals, our KHS Surgery Department director, will invite people to try their hand at a giant ‘Operation’ game modeled after the classic board game,” Ferguson said. “The idea is to celebrate to our surgeons and their new facilities and have a little fun too.”

Ferguson said after about three hours of fun, guests will cash in their chips at the end of the evening in exchange for drawing tickets.

“Each guest will receive one drawing ticket for every $100 in casino chips turned in,” Ferguson said. “So, the more a guest wins, the better their chances are in the drawings to win cash prizes.”

Since this is Casino Night money and not real money people are gambling, it is perfectly legal, and it gives people the opportunity to still go home with real-money prizes.

The cash prizes are given in the form of gift cards ranging from $50 - $250, and there is $1,000 worth of cash prizes.

At a real casino, if the players lose, they lose. But organizers of the Foundation’s Casino Night say if a guest loses all their chips, they can get additional chips for either a donation or some other fun activity.

New this year will be a silent auction where people can bid on items throughout the evening.

One of the items included in the live and silent auction is a 4-night stay at the Wyndham Grand Resort in Clear Water Beach, Florida with roundtrip tickets to Denver International Airport from Kimball through the KCTS shuttle.

Autolok Industries donated an AR-10 rifle, and Rich Flores donated a hand-made decorative wooden vase to be auctioned off.

The event will end around 11 p.m. after the drawing and auctions.

Casino night tickets are available by calling the Foundation at (308) 235-1967 or by contacting any Foundation board member.
