Sidney FFA celebrates fourth year as a club
SIDNEY -- The Sidney High School FFA Chapter celebrated a year of accomplishments, and its fourth year of FFA returning the chapter to Sidney.
Sidney FFA Chapter's 2023-2024 Vice President Riley Rohm said Sidney members competed in events they have never experienced before.
"This year we had a lot of cool stuff, a lot of cool experiences, we got to do a lot of stuff, traveling in eastern Nebraska and getting to compete in different competitions we're not used to doing. We also got to meet and go tour a lot of very cool ag companies and ag-based learning places," Rohm said.
2023-2024 President Ty Grunig said one of the high points of the year was attending FFA Nationals.
"On top of that, we got to go to the National FFA Convention this year, which was in Indianapolis, Ind. We explored a whole bunch of different things down there, and it was an awesome convention. It was a great learning experience for us," Grunig said.
Rohm and Grunig see the Sidney chapter as continuing to expand, now in its fourth year returning to Sidney.
Rohm has been an FFA member since his freshman year, the same year FFA returned to Sidney.
"It's been amazing just to see starting from the members with five to 10 kids and now just growing every year, and every year we just get to accomplish more. We punch more tickets to state and get to meet so many more amazing people," he said.
Grunig said he started his freshman year not knowing what FFA is. In his sophomore year, Rohm introduced him to it, and he has learned so much in the three years.
